PCS - Port Community System

PCS - Port Community System - is a platform developed by Vitrociset for the management of administrative and operational processes in the port area.

Specifically, the PCS is able to optimise, manage and automate logistics and port processes by integrating systems used by the different stakeholders and organisations comprising and operating within the port community.

Indeed, the PCS enables the optimised and secure exchange of information between public and private stakeholders operating in a port, thus increasing efficiency and competitiveness, and at the same time ensuring better and faster coordination.

The PCS provides operators with a single platform through which to manage and gain access to a variety of services, including: procedures related to the arrival, handling and departure of a ship (vessel loop),and those concerning the electronic management of customs documents in the cycles of import/export of goods, during the pre-clearing stage and transfer to the port-dry port (goods cycle).

The solution thus provides a platform able to receive and provide information from/to all operators and agencies involved in the logistics process, to manage the flow of information provided in the operating processes of the port and also to interface with national platforms (e.g. Customs system and maritime traffic control, etc.).

Specifically, the PCS platform includes the following functional modules:

  • Security Module, which provides tools for managing access control at the port
  • Port Work Module, which manages information on companies operating in the port area
  • Ships Module, which manages vessels through the authorisation process for the entry and exit of ships at the port
  • Logistics Data Management Module, which provides the operatorwith“Situation Awareness” regarding the tracking of vehicles and goods from information from the Access Control systems and from the ships module
  • Port Assets Management module, which provides basic knowledge about the port’s assets that are directly or indirectly involved in logistics processes.
  • Goods Module, which provides detailed information on loading and unloading operations at the Terminal with gate-in/gate-out management, including specialisation for the management of dangerous goods
  • Customs Module, which supports the electronic generation of manifests and customs documents (integration with Customs Information Systems)
  • Reporting Module, for the provision of reports and statistics regarding the processes and services context.
